As I work to build this website, I find myself reflecting on just how much of a do-it-yourself kind of gal I really am. People often say that country folks tend to be more self-reliant — and while I was raised in the suburbs, both of my parents grew up on farms. I’m sure that’s where a lot of my mindset comes from.

Now, I’m not bragging. Honestly, trying to handle everything on my own (or with just a few helping hands) has sometimes worked against me. There were times it even changed the course of my life in major ways. But I’ve always been wired to jump in and figure things out for myself, even when the learning curve is steep.

Take real estate, for example. Some people choose to go the FSBO route (For Sale by Owner) to save on commission. I get it — I’ve done it myself, both buying and selling, before I was licensed. And let me tell you, I’ve got stories. There are plenty of reasons I could share why FSBO isn’t always the best path. Eventually, my curiosity and experiences led me to get licensed so I could learn the ins and outs of the business properly — and I’ve learned a lot.

So, if you’re here checking out my site and you come across a typo or a weird layout, just know — I’m learning. This is all part of the DIY journey. And I’m more than happy to share both the lessons and the triumphs I’ve gathered along the way.
